Preparing and submitting a poster and accompanying materials

The deadline for sending posters in PDF is May 2, 2025. The PDF posters will be published on this website after the conference.

The printed posters will be displayed at the University Gallery. They will be put up on the first day of the Conference and taken down after the closing of the event. Since poster exhibition and oral presentations are taking place at different locations, the Conference program will include short orals for posters in the lecture hall. Short orals are 1-slide presentations summarizing your work. The duration of the short orals will be 3 min. (Please make sure that you will have only one slide and keep the time.) The authors are required to submit their 1-slide presentations before the event.

Authors are required to secure funds for printing the posters themselves. The organizers will secure materials and technical help for putting the posters up, and for taking them down.

Part of the program will take place at the University Gallery. During that time, the authors should stay close to the posters and be available to answer questions by the participants.

PREPARING A POSTER

General guidelines:

  • The poster text can be in English or Croatian. If English is not your first language, please make sure to have the text translated to a professional standard. (Ask your English professor or a native English speaker to review your text.)
  • Poster dimensions should be 100 cm (height) x 70 cm (width).
  • Poster needs to be submitted in PDF, min. 300 dpi resolution. The size of the PDF file should not exceed 2 MB.

Technical instructions:

  • Include the poster title, author(s), mentor(s), name of institution, name of department, field of specialization, year of study and (lead) author’s e-mail address on top of the poster.
  • Include "18th International Conference of Conservation-Restoration Studies, Split (Croatia), 8 – 9 May 2025" at the bottom of the poster.
  • The poster must be comprehensive and legible at a 2 m distance, so keep in mind the type and size of fonts.
  • Images should be clear and sharp, with adequate resolution.
  • Images should be numbered and should have a caption. Numbered images should be referred to in the main text.
  • Do not use endnotes or footnotes. Mark the notes with square brackets and list them at the end of the text.
  • Use Harvard Format Citation Guide for in-text citation and Reference list.

Advice for structuring the text and designing the poster:

  • If possible, structure the poster as a scientific paper. That means that your text should have a title, introduction, elaboration of topic (methodology, discussion of results), conclusion and list of references/bibliography. You can also include acknowledgements.
  • Use the space efficiently, but do not crowd the poster with pictures or text. There is no need to show every detail of your work, as poster authors are going to have a short oral presentation.
  • Choose an appropriate background colour. Be it light or dark, pay attention to the colour of your text so to achieve good contrast, and allow for easier reading.
  • Use vivid colours only to emphasize.
  • Do not use more than two fonts. Do not use capital letters.
  • Titles and subtitles should be larger than the body of the text, but not disproportionately.
  • Be consistent in text formatting.
